HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKSON!!

Today was Jack's 1st Birthday. We had it all planned out to have his "party" at the park, but for those of you in Utah you know that it SNOWED this afternoon. At first it was just cold and rainy, but I'm from Oregon and in Oregon if you cancel something because of the rain you'd never do anything! Anyway, we changed the party location at the last minute to Aunt Debbie's house, but because of the snow some of our friends and family coming from longer distances couldn't make it. We missed seeing them, but it was a good afternoon all-in-all.

Oh, and I decided to try my hand at creative cake making. Don't ask me why I picked a frog, but it seemed to be the most doable cake for my skill level. I think I need to take a "how to apply frosting smoothly" class. Does such a thing exist?

My Boys

Jack was being a little fussy last night (it was close to bed time), so Mike took him out on the back balcony to cool off. Maybe it's like this with all babies, but being outside makes Jack so peaceful and content. I thought they looked so cute standing out there together I had to take a picture. I love my boys...

Go COUGS!!!

On Saturday afternoon we went to the BYU vs. Air Force game. It was a great game (mostly because the Cougars won), and once again I had to document how great of a kid Mike and I have. The first picture is of Jack fast asleep under our bleacher seat. Don't worry, we laid down some blankets and our jackets for padding. It was so loud and Jack just slept through it.

However, then it started to rain...and rain (which made me incredibly home sick for Oregon), and we eventually had to dig our jackets out from under Jack. That, and the fact that I was having a hard time keeping the rain drops off his face, woke him up. But the game was almost over, and we had to snap a shot of us walking in the rain back to our car. We were drenched!!! Oh, but it was so much fun...

Jackson's Upcoming Birthday

Well, Jack is just about to turn one, and his first package arrived just a few days ago. I set the box down on the floor and I don't think Jack went further than a few feet from that box the rest of the day. Oh, and you'll notice Jack holding one of his other favorite things...a toothbrush. There's nothing quite like a healthy, beautiful smile so we figured we'd start 'em young. My brother-in-law (the dentist) would be so proud!!

Anyway, just a few more days and Jack will get to open all of the fun gifts his Grandma Smith sent him.

All Grown Up

Look at how grown up my little boy is?! Jack has just graduated into the "big boy" car seat, so we had to take a picture. This is, after all, momentous for us. I think Jack loves sitting forward. We'll look back at him while we're driving down the road and he's sitting back there just grinning from ear to ear.

As we were putting away the other car seat yesterday it made me think back to the first day we put Jack in that car seat to take him home from the hospital. I swear that was just yesterday, but it's almost been a full year now. It also made me realize that the next time we pull that car seat out it will be because we're having baby #2. Eeek!! (and no...I'm not pregnant).

Apparently, you can only post so many pictures per blog. Here's the continuation of pictures. I'm also including one of Jack sleeping on the boat. Have I mentioned how great of a kid he is?!

Back in Business

Well, after some serious moving drama, we are now in Provo and Back in Business. So, this is me catching up on things. We've got pictures of our camping trip with the Smith's in Oregon (Jack did awesome). Some pictures of us wakeboarding (my back roll is on there, but Mike caught me at a funny position. And, there are some pictures of what can happen to your body from attempting such tricks. That is a picture of my leg all bruised from slapping the water so hard. That lovely bruise just happened last weekend. We went wakeboarding with our friends Josh and Melissa and on one of my attempts I twisted funny and this was the result. Gorgeous, I know.
