Happy Halloween

I realize that Jack doesn't have any idea it's Halloween, but we had to put his costume to use (thank you Grandma LaFawn for buying it for him). I have to say that Jack was the cutest bumble bee ever! We only trick-or-treated to about 10 houses, but every house we went to ooh'd and aah'd over our little bee. It was really fun and if nothing else I think Jack enjoyed sucking on the end of a package of smarties.

Pre trick-or-treating photo shoot. "Oooh, this is going to be so fun!"

"Hmm, what did they give me?"

Jack on Mike's shoulders trying his best to get those smarties open!

Jack loving the leaves...and refusing to let go of the smarties.

Jack and Mom. And please, no comments on the ghetto trick-or-treating bag. I realized as we were walking out the door that I didn't have anything for Jack to put candy in.

Privacy...What's That?!

I'm pretty convinced that it's going to be a long time before I experience any kind of privacy in my life. Jack has been doing this since before we moved from Oregon, but this is the first time I've been able to capture a picture of it. Usually I'm the one in the shower, and I kid you not Jack does this EVERYDAY. Mike happened to be the lucky shower taker when this picture was taken. The minute you turn the water on Jack is on his way to the bathroom. He'll stand right at the edge of the shower, pull the curtain back and smile. Priceless.

I NEED Your Advice

Alright my fellow bloggers, for those of you who care about trivial matters, like hair, I've been contemplating this for quite some time and I think I've officially decided to whack all of my hair off. And, I'm not kidding...all of it! I'm planning on donating the hair to a charity called "Locks of Love."

I've wondered all my life what it would be like to have short hair and now I'm just going to do it. Plus, as some of you may or may not know, my mother-in-law, LaFawn, was just diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. She started chemotherapy this week and Mike says that in a tribute to her he's going to shave his head, and he's going to try to get some of his brother's to shave their heads too. He said I should shave mine too, but that was a little too drastic for me.

So, here are the options. Oh, and I realize I don't look like any of these celebrities, but it's the hair we're going for here.

Cute, but is it too short?

Definitely the most conservative, but long enough to put in a ponytail.

Very similar to the one above, just a few more layers, and bangs which I pretty much have anyway.

Chunky and funky, but is it too many layers?

Mamma's Tights

Jack had just come out of the bath and while I was putting some things away and gathering up Jackson's clothes he found my knee-high tights somewhere. He handed them to me like he wanted me to show him what they are for. So, we put 'em on! Jack thought that was pretty cool and proceeded to walk around the apartment dancing and minding his own business. Mike was less than thrilled when he saw the pictures of his SON wearing girls tights. Oh well, it's all in the name of fun, right?

Splendid Fall Days

I absolutely love fall. I love the crisp air and the colors of the leaves changing. Jack and I went out the other day just to play in the front lawn and here are some pictures I snapped of Jack playing with the leaves and crawling around. The weather has been absolutely perfect here the last couple of days and I'm loving every minute of it!

Sick & Wrong

As I mentioned in my previous post, I've been quite ill the last 36 hours or so. Here are some fairly sick pictures of me coming out of my comatose state last night. Mike found it sincerely humorous (or possibly pathetic) that as soon as I started to come back around, I was on the computer blogging. Note my perfect posture...I think my body was so use to being curled up for a day-and-a-half I was having a hard time sitting up straight without my back killing me.

Dentist In Training?

It probably doesn't help that Mike and I are borderline OCD about flossing our teeth, but Jack loves to have some floss of his own too. Last night Jack was trying to floss my teeth. I suppose Jack finds it pointless to floss his own teeth because he only has 4 of them. Could we have a future dentist on our hands?

Oh, and as a side note: don't mind how hideous I look. I've been sick with some kind of 36 hour bug, and I spent those 36 hours curled up under this pink blanket trying not to puke my guts out.

Football In The SNOW!!!

Okay, so it wasn't snowing when we arrived at the football game, it was just a light drizzle. However, as you can see by the photos Jackson was having none of it! He was quite fussy the entire time we were there, so we ended up leaving by halftime. It's a good thing we did too...the blizzard shot is what the game looked like by the 4th quarter. Welcome to Utah I suppose...

New Favorite Toy

Do you remember my blog from a little while back...Why Do We Buy Toys?...I'm still mystified by this question. Jack's new favorite toy is a straw. He'll crawl around the house (he still only walks when we make him) blowing into the straw. He grins from ear-to-ear after blowing into the straw because it makes a whistling noise that he thinks is so cool. From diapers to straws...what will be next I wonder?

Obsessed

You're probably already aware of this utterly amazing series of books, but if your aren't, I highly recommend reading these books. I am totally obsessed!! I finished Twilight in about 48 hours reading during every possible free minute of my day (that includes staying up until 1:00 a.m. one day, and 1:30 a.m. the next day). Twilight ends in a complete cliff hanger, so the minute I finished it we were off to the bookstore to buy the second installment called New Moon. Eclipse is the 3rd book, but I'm not quite there yet. Give me a day. So, here I am 10:30 p.m. on a Sunday evening just getting myself ready to read for the next few hours. Aaah...there's nothing quite like a good book.

So Studious

I was making dinner last night and realized that Jack was awfully quiet in the other room. I walked around the corner and back towards his room to find this...Jack sitting on the floor "reading" his books. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Walking!!!

You can't even tell in this picture, but Jack took his first steps last week! We've been trying to get him to walk for quite some time (I know, people say this changes with your second child) and he finally took some steps. This is Jack with his Grandpa Bell (my sweet daddy). My parents came into town for General Conference this weekend and it was so great to see them.

Why Do We Buy Toys???

My question of the day is: Why do we buy toys for our kids? Jack has an entire basket of toys in the front room. Right next to the toys I keep a stash of diapers. So, what do I find Jackson playing with?...the diapers! I think that from now on I'm no longer going to buy toys for my kids, or for anyone else's kids. Instead it's going to be diapers, empty boxes and kitchen utensils. Those seem to be more interesting than any other kid toy.

What Jack Does Best

This is Jack doing what he does best...being in my face at all times! Seriously, if I'm close by Jack will climb all over me. It's like I'm his human jungle gym. I actually find it pretty funny.

Jack's Grandpa Smith, I mean Reed (he hates being called "grandpa"), is notorious for sticking his tongue out when he's concentrating on something. It looks like Jack has inherited that trait from him.
